Gospel = Good News
This is the Gospel
In the beginning God created everything: birds, trees, night, day, and finally, humans. Everything that God created He called “good,” but humans He called “very good.” Man and woman were the crown jewel of God’s creation, created in His very image, bearing the likeness of the Creator. God dwelled with them and gave them everything they needed.
But man and woman turned away from God (sin) and tried to do things their own way. This led to darkness and death spreading like a disease on the earth. God longed to be near His people, to rescue them from darkness and death, but over and over, they chose to turn away.
In comes Jesus, God’s ultimate plan. Jesus lived a life on earth just like us, experiencing joy and love, temptation and suffering. However, unlike us, He lived perfectly, without sin. God knew that in order to rescue us, someone had to defeat death, darkness, and sin. That person was Jesus. Jesus eventually died, and everyone who followed Him and loved Him thought it was all over. What they didn’t realize is that, in dying, Jesus did just the thing He came to do: He defeated death, darkness, and sin. Three days after He was buried, He rose victoriously from the grave, offering freedom and new life to all who believe in Him.
Jesus died for you. His offer is on the table. He asks nothing of you other than to come to Him, to give Him your death, darkness and sin, and trade it for His life, light, and holiness. What will you do?
Are you ready to follow Jesus? Congratulations! Let us know so we can celebrate with you:
