Thanksgiving Offering

David reveals his attitude about thanksgiving to God in Psalm 86:12:

“I give thanks to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart.”

How does our attitude compare, and how can we express that thankfulness to God? We do so in our prayers, worship, service, and gifts. A great opportunity to do the latter is through Parkview’s Thanksgiving offering which is giving back to God, over and above our regular tithes and offerings, what He has first given us!

Each year these gifts have not only been a blessing to Parkview’s direct ministries but have also been a rich blessing to many outside of Parkview’s walls. Possible targets for this year's Thanksgiving offering can be found below.

Thanksgiving Sunday will be November 19. But, as God leads and provides, you can give to the Thanksgiving offering through the end of the calendar year by indicating “Thanksgiving offering” on your check or giving online under the Thanksgiving offering category. If you have automatic deductions set up for your regular giving, what is received the week of Nov. 13-19 will go to the Thanksgiving offering. We would ask that you prayerfully consider an additional gift above your regular giving, as a specific expression of thanksgiving to God. If you give by check after November 19 to the Thanksgiving offering designate “Thanksgiving offering” in the memo. The elders will allocate the Thanksgiving offering to the various targets.

Our sovereign, omnipotent God obviously doesn’t need our money to accomplish His will, but He does deserve our thanks, and it is a tremendous privilege that one of the main means He chooses to accomplish His will is through the gifts, which we first received from God, and then give back to Him.

As you pray about this year’s Thanksgiving offering, consider not only David’s attitude expressed in Psalm 86 but also his declaration in 1 Chronicles 29:14:

“But who am I and who are my people that we should be able to offer as generously as this? For all things come from You, and from Your hand we have given you.”
