K to 3rd grade

Available during the 9:30 and 11:00 am services

In K-3rd grade, UNITE kids learn about different virtues which reflect God’s character and can be used in their daily lives. UNITE uses 252 Basics curriculum which is centered around 3 basic truths from Luke 2:52:

  • I can TRUST God no matter what
  • I need to make the WISE choice
  • I should treat OTHERS the way they want to be treated

The Structure

Small Groups: Plug In (15 minutes)

Plug In is designed to introduce children to the day’s topic in a setting that gives them individualized attention from their Small Group Leader and plenty of interaction with a small group of peers. Plug in starts when the kids first arrive in their classrooms.

Large Group: Power Up (20-25 minutes)

Large Group is designed to engage children in worship in a large group setting. Music, prayer, and an innovative approach to the Bible story are always a part of this interactive time. All Kids K-3rd meet for Large Group together.

Small Groups: Catch On (25-30 minutes)

Catch On is designed to help kids understand how the day’s topic applies to them. They’ll discuss real-life experiences, interact with a close-knit group of peers, and participate in a variety of activities that appeal to different learning styles. Life-application and memory-verse activities, as well as prayer, are always a part of this hands-on time. Kids finish the hour in Small Groups in their classrooms.

For Parents

We are committed to modeling God’s love and teaching His Word to UNITE kids.

We encourage you, as a parent, to be involved in your child’s spiritual growth. Each week UNITE classes provide two family activity sheets, a “God Time” devotional, and a “Refrigerator Activity Sheet.” Make sure to take home these handouts when you pick up your kids from class so you can reinforce the lesson as a family at home.

Other ways you can help your child grow in his/her relationship with Jesus:

  • Read God’s book, the Bible, as a family.
  • Give your child their own age-appropriate Bible.
  • Talk to God in prayer as a family daily.
  • Serve as a family in a Parkview ministry.

“We will not hide these truths from our children but will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the LORD. We will tell of his power and the mighty miracles he did.” – Psalm 78:4

Missed Sunday morning?

Check out Studio252 for a full video presentation of today’s lesson! The site also includes devotions, activities, music, and games that continue the Unite experience at home.

4th to 6th grade

Available during the 9:30 service

Launch is the 4th-6th-grade ministry of Parkview church. Launch’s programming emphasizes preparing kids for Jr. High and High School. The goal of Launch is to immerse our students in God’s word so that they are prepared to be disciple makers in junior high.
This includes:

  • Giving kids the opportunity to apply Bible lessons to their daily lives.
  • Helping kids see their relationship with Christ as an individual and personal relationship
  • Creating a pattern of daily devotion and prayer time at an early age.
  • Allowing kids to see their value as leaders in their faith right now.

Launch’s key verse is 1 Timothy 4:12, “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity.”

The Structure

Opening (10 minutes)

The opening time is designed to be a time for students to get to know each other and hold each other accountable for weekly devotionals, scripture memory, and bringing their Bible to Launch. Students also participate in one of six stations that they will cycle through during the year. The stations teach concepts like a Biblical timeline, books of the Bible, Bible trivia, memory verses, and the location of Biblical places.

Large Group (25-30 minutes)

Large group encourages student interaction while teaching important Biblical truths. First, students are challenged in a fun, interactive competition that builds up their small group unity. Second, students will hear an interactive Bible lesson. Students are given opportunities to participate during the story through reading verses, answering questions or discussion in groups.

Small Groups (20-30 minutes)

Small Group is a time designed to allow kids to discuss the lesson in depth and understand how it applies to their lives. They will participate in a variety of activities that are related to the day’s topic. Small group always concludes with a time to share prayer requests and pray together.

BLITZ nights

Blitz nights are monthly events for 4th-6th graders that take place outside of Sunday morning.

They are fun-filled nights packed with games, food, and gospel-centered messages. This is an awesome opportunity for outreach so friends are invited to this free event. Times and dates vary but are announced during Launch on Sunday mornings.

For Parents

One of the major goals of our Launch program is to help students develop habits that will give them a solid Biblical foundation before entering junior high.

It would be a great encouragement for your kids if you would support and help them with these goals. Each week, your kid will leave with a devotional. This has a passage and questions for each day of the week, a memory verse for the month, and an area for prayer requests. Encourage your students when they come home to complete the devotional and bring it back the next Sunday.

Other ways you can help your child grow in their faith:

  • Read God’s word, the Bible, as a family.
  • Give your child their own age-appropriate Bible.
  • Talk to God in prayer as a family daily.
  • Serve as a family in a Parkview ministry.
  • Model what it means to share God’s word with others

“We will not hide these truths from our children but will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the LORD. We will tell of his power and the mighty miracles he did. – Psalm 78:4

Parkview Preschool

2017-18 Preschool Parent Calendar

A Christian Preschool is a very effective agency for teaching Christian love through example and experience.

Parkview Preschool children are guided to discover the world around them and learn through hands-on experiences. They are encouraged to follow directions, show consideration, and develop skills at their own rate in a developmentally appropriate way. Through play, each child will develop physically, socially, intellectually and emotionally. Students are encouraged to solve problems, use their skills, and discover their place in the world as they begin to understand the role of others.

The Program

A Typical Day

The morning includes centers, story time, Bible story, music, snack, and recess. During centers, children have the opportunity to choose writing, reading, math, and fine motor activities. They can also play at the light table, drama center, sensory table, and with many other toys. Through art, each child is encouraged to be creative and manipulate materials. Our preschool curriculum is theme-based. Storytime is spent reading books that teach about our themes.

Through music, students learn to sing in a group, listen to music, and develop a sense of rhythm. Spiritually, each child is encouraged to love God, pray to Him with thankfulness, and develop a positive pattern of living. Through daily Bible stories, children learn about the world God created and how He loves and cares for them. A nutritious snack is provided by the parents of the preschool children. Part of the morning is spent in outdoor or indoor recess time depending on the weather. The school maintains a delicate balance between control and freedom and between formal and informal activities. The total morning’s program is planned to provide a rhythm of active and calm periods to meet both physical and emotional needs.

  • To develop in each child an understanding of Christ’s love and forgiveness.
  • To provide a variety of experiences and materials to enable each child to grow at his/her own rate of development.
  • To maintain a caring atmosphere where each child is loved and accepted as a unique individual.

A Christian preschool is a very effective agency for teaching Christian love through example and experience. It provides time for quality education and training in a warm and friendly atmosphere where preschool children can learn to play creatively with one another. It provides an opportunity for Christian principles to be applied to daily activities. Each child develops skills and self-reliance at his/her own rate of progress. Teachings exhibiting Christian love provide a school where children develop meaningful relationships.

Parkview Christian Preschool is sponsored by Parkview Evangelical Free Church. It is a non-profit organization administered by a Board of Directors and fully licensed with the state of Iowa.

Parkview Christian Preschool admits children of any race, color, and national or ethnic origin.
